Joseph looked at his moms, "please," he begged, "I want to hear one more story."
Terry looked at Birgit, who gave a silent nod, then looked back into Joseph's tired eyes, "okay sweetie, one more, but then you've got to goto sleep."
Joseph bounced in his bed, "Yay! ...um okay, I promise," he smiled, fighting off the sleep that crept inside him.
Birgit got up from the edge of the bed, "Mommy will be back hun, I'm just going to get the storyteller some tea." She gripped her lovers shoulder and squeezed lightly.
"Mom, can I have some water, please?"
Birgit furrowed her brow, the smiled, "okay, and some water for my nightowl."
Terry grabbed Birgit's hand and kissed it, "thanks so much."
Birgit kissed the side of Terry's head and whispered into her ear, "I love you." She wrapped her warm, big arm around Terry's petite frame, and gave her a hearty hug from behind.
As soon as she was out of the room, Terry began her tale. Joseph smiled in his bed, and turned onto his side, taking a handful of blankets with him. His eyes beemed with life, even though they showed signs of the late hour.
"When you close your eyes at night, Luna snuggles you so very tight, in her warm lunar light. When you count the hundreth moo, to the land of dreams Morpheus will take you, for beyond and pleasure too.
"This was the riddle Bastet would tell her children each night before they went to bed. Than she would tell them the story of when the children of Gaea would come to play with them."
"Mom?" Joseph asked slightly muffled under the sheets, "do I get to play with Bastets' children?"
"Yes sweetie," she answered, pausing in her tale.
"Does Danny and Tommy and Greg get to play with Bastet's children?"
"Yes sweetie, all your friends get to play with the children of Bastet." She answered, waiting for the follow up question.
"But not Stephanie? Um... coz she's a um girl, and she's got coodies and um she smells like um potty." Joseph finnished by sticking out his tongue with disgust.
"Yes, Stephanie gets to play with the children of Bastet too, all the children of Gaea do, boys and girls." Terry spoke softly, while laughing abit inside.
"Eww, I don'wanna play with girls, I don' like them!" He said rather "as-a-ma-factly."
Terry moved in and tickled him, sending the young boy kicking, screaming and giggling in the bed.
"We're suppose to be tryin' to get him to sleep, hun." Birgit interrupted the tickling as she walked into the room carrying the small tray with drinks.
Terry blushed, and ignored her partners wisecrack. "Well Joey, your mom and I are both girls, and you like being with us."
"You're not girls!" He said quite bluntly, "you're mommies and old and stuff."
Birgit scrunched her face abit at the comment. Terry just giggled. "Well mommies are girls too, even if we are old and stuff." Birgit put the tray down on Joseph desk, and scrunched her face more.
"So," Terry continued, "every night, when Gaea's children lay their heads on their pillows, and drift off to sleep, they would wake up in the land of Bastet."
"Where's the land of Bastet?" Joseph asked, eyes wide and curious.
Birgit pointed out the window at the shining blue-white orb that lit the sky, "On the moon Joey, on the moon."
Joseph's eyes glittered in the moons reflection, and he smiled and stretched happily. He let out a small yawn that reminded his moms of one of Bastet's little ones.
"When Gaea's children would arrive in the land of Bastet, Luna, one of Bastet's oldest and wisest friends, would use her magick to turn each of Gaea's children into little mious. All the mious would then run, skip and play on their way to Morpheus' castle.
"Morpheus' castle is a large, beautiful palce built in the treasures of dreams. All the mious are free to go wherever they wish in his palace. Everyone becomes a miou under Luna's magick."
"Even you?" Joseph questioned his moms with some doubt.
Terry laughed, and Birgit answered, "Well it takes some doing, but yeah Terry too." She gave a full smile, with her big rosey cheeks afire.
Terry reached back and took Birgit's arm, pulling her down onto the bed. Her lover leaned over and kissed her cheek softly.
"During the night, Luna's smile lights up all the land so all the children can play and dance. Morpheus watches all the mious play, and joins in their fun, sharing all kinds of foods from all over, and toys and games from the lands beyond and all kinds of fun stuff."
"Mommy," Joseph interrupted, "how old is Morpheus?"
"Morpheus is as old as the moon," Terry replied cryptically.
"How old is that?" Joseph asked, "is that older than uncle Markus?"
Birgit held her tongue, and Terry squeezed her tight, "Yes, much older. Morpheus is older than your grand-pa, and older than his grand-pa, and even older than that." Terry feeling rather proud in her answer, as her partner rubbed her back.
Joseph buried his tired face into his pillow, his eyes barely remaining open.
"When you close your eyes at night, Luna snuggles you so very tight, in her warm lunar light. And when you count the hundreth moo, to the land of dreams Morpheus will take you, for dreams beyond and pleasures too."
Terry and Birgit quietly stood up from the bed, and each lightly kissed Joey's forehead. "Night, night munchkin," Terry whispered. "I love you Joe," Birgit whispered.
The two mommies hugged tightly, and Birgit spoke quietly into her lovers ear, "Will I see Morpheus tonight?"
Terry smiled and blushed, "yess, but first you will have to pass through the gates of Bastet."
